The Magnifications of Jesus=God..
"If you really know me, you will know my Father as well" (Jn 14:7).
If we really know Jesus, we know the Father. Jesus was the exact representation of God. It's hard to wrap our minds around, because God is so vast and powerful and omniscient..and Jesus appeared to be the opposite. He was meek, was a man familiar with suffering, He went to the cross silently, and He suffered one of the most brutal deaths in the history of mankind. To the world, He would be counted as a man who was powerless. Yet Jesus equates Himself to God. How can they be the same Being?
If we take this verse as truth and equate Jesus to God, then we can understand both Jesus and God in true light which magnifies their beauty. Jesus' meekness was His knowing full well how great and strong and able He was. He knew on the inside that He was the Jesus that would not only defeat death Himself, but would free all of mankind into victory. Yet His whole life, He walked so low and spoke only of the glory of the Father. He lived in a manner that He could always be in reach of and in relationship with the lowly of the earth, so that the unlikely would be given a chance and so no one would be left out of the kingdom.
And the same thing with Jesus going silently to the cross. He knew full well He didn't have to and that He could stop the people at any moment, but His silence showed His utter determination to die. It was the sole purpose for which He came to earth, His mission.
This fact that Jesus=God can show us so much about them. From the other side, we come to know God through the man of Jesus. He knows all of our sins, our ongoing selfishness, all of our impure motives, and is still determined to express His love toward us. The situation of the cross is our constant reality in relation to God..He endures constantly the hurt and pain of our sinfulness, with only love in His heart. As our sin gives Him repeated grief, His love will always be the love of calvary for us.
I just cried doing devo.. Haha God is good.
On a personal note, I am hopeful for more time to listen and to write. I have been persuaded that busyness is a sin, and unavailability is a grief to the Father's heart. Mm..after this semester, not again packing my schedule in. Listening for God takes significant time, yet it's my life.
