The Fight for Purity

I was sharing some recent struggles tonight with a sister, and she pointed out to me that Jesus died for us in both flesh and blood.

In His resurrection, He redeemed not just our bloodline, for us to become children of God..but He redeemed our flesh, so that we could be conquerors over every one of our fleshly temptations and desires.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;

Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

1 John 2:16 For everything in the world–the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does–comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Often times the fight for purity requires a violent, committed spirit to God.

Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Give us grace, Lord, abundant grace to keep a pure heart and pure mind, holy pleasing in Your sight. Fill us with You, and leave no room for compromise.
