Swimming for God
I'm updating this thing way too much, but I got to swim for the first time this year! I'm trying out Bally's this summer for the first time instead of 24, which supposedly is where all the cool kids go. But Bally's seems much more clean. I'd give up a 24-hour gym for a clean one anyday. And hopefully since the college-aged clientele mostly flock to 24, I'll be able to guard my heart and eyes easier this summer ; ).
So after getting out of the gym, I was sitting in my car for a while worshiping, and I just felt so much more..pure. I guess you could say it's cause swimming is equivalent to taking about 20 showers, though in chlorine water at that haha. But there's no feeling like it, to be so clean physically before God, which also in some way led me to want to cleanse myself spiritually through repentance. It's hard to know when there's sin between you and God when there's so much you can't even feel the guilt of its tug on you anymore. But when you're physically so clean, it's liable that you become more aware of the spiritual dirt as well (and I guess that's why God tends to speak most often just after we've bathed haha). When you feel pure before God, there's no feeling like it. You can feel the heavens shake at your prayers, the kind of prayers that come from the belly of Christ-stirred compassion, love, and longing. There's no feeling like it. To feel your heart connect with His. And Jesus being stirred at the sound of your words that, when they come out, you don't know where they came from and how you became so articulate for once in that moment of Holy Spirit-led speech. I don't even know where those words came from that I just typed. I also love exerting all my energy during swimming so that afterwards, my arms almost can't find their way up to lather my hair with shampoo. When I'm so drained of all my energy, the easiest thing for me to do is just lay down in worship of Him who's infinitely more mighty, stronger than mountains. Anything that brings you to your knees, that knocks down your energy or pride or anything you hold up physically or emotionally against Him who lowered Himself into brokenness for you, is something worth experiencing time and time again.
So..I guess that's why I like swimming so much. Lol.
