Held in Palms

¨I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand" -John 10:28-29

It's funny how God chooses to highlight verses. I was talking with a patient this week and telling him how I'm the youngest of my siblings. He then did a motion, pointing into the heart of his palm. He said something in Chinese, but I didn't understand.

Then he asked me, "Do you ever get yelled at?" I said yes. "And you understand?" I nodded emphatically. He chuckled, saying, "So you don't understand being protected/adored, but you understand when you're being yelled at."

Haha. I don't know if that patient was Christian, but I came upon the above verse this weekend and, a few days late, realized the significance of the "palm." Being held in someone's hand, beheld and sacredly kept, means God won't let anything get to us that He doesn't will. Just like when we don't want to lose something, like a little chick, we hold it tight in the palms of our hands.

It's also funny how true his last statement was to me. How we are clueless as to how God continually protects and loves us and guards us from all directions..instead we pick out the things that go wrong, the things that just aren't right with life and being, and correlate them with God's perception of us. Most of us don't realize how precious we truly are that God would keep us so tightly held in His palms, notwithstanding the times He sometimes opens His palms up a little bit to the outside world so we can breath :).

"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands" -Isaiah 49:16
