Paving Paths
So I decided to take a speech class this semester in an effort to do something about my voice. I did all the assignments and gave all the speeches the best way I knew how. Nothing much changed, granted I didn't really know how things could change..Until a few weeks ago, when my teacher called me over after class and told me I needed to do something, just how she had to do something drastic about her excessive weight so she could get a job.
But unlike every other teacher and boss in my life who's just ordered me to speak louder and expected me to be able to do simply that, this woman (a Christian) actually recognized the handicap and, more than that, offered me a solution. She told me how her husband had Parkinson's and, at one point, the volume of his voice was too low to be heard. But, she told him, "You've got to have volume. What if something happened and you couldn't cry out? She told me she had some speech therapy resources that worked for her husband. She gave them to me today. I'm crossing my fingers and praying this will work for me too.
Today was the last day of my speech class..my teacher gave me a big hug and told me to keep in touch. I am SO grateful to God for this woman who has finally offered me help in this area I thought was just my lot in life, my thorn in the flesh. The ground that she and her husband tread through with their own struggles has definitely paved a way for others too. God always has a divine purpose for our struggles, and they're always for the benefit of others. He's good, so good. : )
