"Proverbs 31 was Written for the Sons"

I've been watching this Paul Washer sermon called "Are You Ready for a Relationship?" He has some good stuff, except most of the time he's talking to men and what men should be like..I didn't find out til the end that it's cause he actually was addressing a bunch of dudes, haha.

One thing he said toward the end: "By desiring a hiddenness, simplicity, chasteness in a woman, it will draw that out of a woman..that's part of what leadership is."

That got me thinking..I think a woman can tell if someone is the one for her by what kinds of things makes her attractive to him. If it's her personality or looks, then the relationship won't last. But if he's attracted to the traits that God desires in a woman, which are inward beauty, simplicity, a gentle, quiet spirit, then he'll love her the way God loves her. He'll appreciate her for who she was made to be, and he'll be able to draw those quality traits out of her so that she shines for the Lord. The God-destined relationships are the ones where the two enable eachother to be what God originally made them to be. They will help and uplift eachother to be God-fearing, quality man and woman of God. That's the kind of relationship that will last.

"I desire what God desires, and that's inward beauty, chasteness, innocence, simplicity."

The Worth of Hiddenness

For much of my 20’s, I aspired to a certain idea and vision of greatness. I received prophecies about my greatness and how the Lord wanted to use me to “impact nations.” I heard these kinds of words over and over, and these words were great to hear – but naturally, after many years of not making much impact, I felt like I had failed God to some measure (I believe my experience is not uncommon). I felt I needed to figure out how to achieve “big impact” in order to truly fulfill my calling and destiny in life.   The Great Commission says in Matthew 28:19-20:  "Go therefore and  make disciples of all the nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...”  When read plainly, the Great Commission does put forth this command of impacting nations. His Proposal, My Reflections

I'm writing this here because there is too much story behind these photos for us just to post another happy (or obnoxious) Facebook engagement. I also believe there is beauty in sharing not just the joy, but the brokenness in our lives. The joy is that I really can't believe I get to marry my best friend - the one who makes me laugh the most, the one I get to be most myself with, who reminds me of the truth of who I am in the most needed times, and who beckons me most often to look at things and people through lenses of humility and love. He's the one the Lord has confirmed to me over and over as my one.
