Daniel Fasting
I decided to go on a Daniel fast after being inspired by a message by Lou Engle. He told of one boy who went two whole years with no meat, no sweets, to pray for our government to be pro-life. The day President Bush got elected, he asked God, "Can I stop fasting now?" God told Him, "You go on boy..you're moving angels."
Reasons why I'm Daniel fasting:
1) To pray for family. At home, it seems like spiritual warfare has been tearing things apart. My brother and mom ganged up on my sister and took out their anger on her, my mom tried to take my Bible away from me when I was reading (she said the lighting on my bed was too dark to read), and my sister's been sick for a whole month with fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, and nausea. Going to be praying for salvation come, peace and love to fill our household, opening up of spiritual eyes and hearts, and healing.
2) To pray for USC. God's doin something very noticeable and tangible here.
3) To pray for my home church. I was praying and saw a wave coming to our congregation, at least to the youth. I wanna pray for them to have a breakthrough in identity and hunger for God. My 21 days of fasting will come up the week of the IHOP conference in Pasadena, so hoping God will encounter each one of them there.
4) To pray for specific friends who are needing prayer. If you're reading this and need a prayer boost, holler ;).
5) For some reason I felt led to pray for my future husband. Just for his well-being, for strength, for hunger for God, for grace in school/ministry/whatever he's doing in life. It feels pretty awesome to just know he's out there and seeking God. Praying for him helps me keep hopeful and protects my heart.
6) I need more of God, I need a spiritual breakthrough to want and will to spend intimate time with Him again everyday. And I wanna feel Him all the time..not just once a week on a day fast.
